Mastering Heat Press Settings
Struggling with transfers that won't stick? You are not alone. Here is the definitive guide for 2026.
"When we analyze failed prints at Sky Print House, 80% of the issues aren't caused by the transfer itself, but by insufficient pressure."
01. Why "Pressure" is Critical
DTF (Direct-to-Film) requires heavy pressure to drive the adhesive into the fabric fibers. Without it, durability is compromised.
Pro Tip
If your transfer paper lifts easily but the design doesn't stick to the shirt, increase your pressure immediately.
02. The Golden Settings
Using the same setting for a thick cotton hoodie and a delicate polyester jersey is a recipe for disaster. Follow these Sky Print House Certified Settings:
| Fabric Type | Temp (°F) | Temp (°C) | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100% Cotton | 300°F - 320°F | 150°C - 160°C | 10-12 Sec |
| 50/50 Blends | 280°F - 300°F | 138°C - 150°C | 8-10 Sec |
| 100% Polyester | 265°F - 280°F | 130°C - 138°C | 8-10 Sec |
Hot Peel vs. Cold Peel
While "Hot Peel" sounds efficient, patience pays off. For the most durable finish, we always recommend a Cold Peel.
"Let the transfer cool down completely until it is cold to the touch. Peeling too hot can lift the edges."
The "Second Press" Rule
After peeling, press again to remove the "plastic" feel.
- Place garment back on press
- Cover with Teflon (Gloss) or Parchment (Matte)
- Press for 5-10 seconds
